Tony Walker, Site Support Services Manager at Doosan Babcock says:
For a long time now we have thought there should be a better way of picking items of plant from our fleet, so we can dispatch them to our sites. RentalResult software already managed the process, but there is always room for improvement. Via a paper picking list, our storemen would write down the asset numbers of each piece of equipment. The picking list print would then be sent up to the office from the stores and the office staff would enter the assets into the RentalResult software and produce a paper dispatch ticket, to accompany the equipment to site. All of this is fraught with problems and the need for everyone in the chain to ensure each asset number is correct.
At last, we have got the facility to do these tasks with ease, using the new Mobile Apps now available from RentalResult. There is no paper printing, no need to write asset numbers on the picking note and no need to enter the asset onto the screen in the back office. The storeman now opens up the app, locates the picking list on the screen, drills down to each line and enters the assets direct, cutting out all these processes. The time this will save will be tremendous and at last any asset problems will be sorted at the source of the problem, saving office staff having to wander around trying to resolve wrong number problems. We are about to build this process into our day-to-day activities using RentalResult’s mobile apps, as part of our everyday processing. Our next step will be to use the RFID facilities that RentalResult is currently working on, which will provide us with an even bigger saving in time, making the whole process so much more efficient.
Phil Richards, Project Manager for RentalResult says:
Doosan Babcock is one of our oldest customers and it’s great to see that they are taking advantage of the newest technologies we have to offer. Tony and his team are always looking for ways to improve their process and challenging us to come up with the technology solutions they need to make their business more efficient. I’ll be very excited to see what they think when we roll out the RFID capabilities into their process next month.
