RentalMan API Documentation: Fully Updated and Standardized

By Other3 min read
Developer reviewing code across multiple monitors for API integration work

Integration teams move faster when documentation is precise. Exact field types, accurate sample requests, and a consistent structure across every service mean less time cross-referencing and more time building. That’s the standard Wynne holds its documentation to. The latest update to the RentalMan API documentation reflects that commitment.

All 99 RentalMan Web Services, create, update, and retrieve, have been reviewed and updated. Field size data is now documented for every element across every service. Sample requests are accurate. Every page follows the same structure. If your team builds or maintains integrations against the RentalMan API, here’s what changed.

What Changed Across All 99 Web Services

The update covers the Web Services section of the User Guide for RentalMan, accessible via Integration Web Services in the customer knowledge base. Three things changed across every create, update, and retrieve service:

  • Field size data added to all request and response tables. This was the most-requested missing piece. Every table now shows its data type and character limit, whether that’s a character field, an integer, or a decimal with defined precision. Integration teams can build to exact specifications without needing to test field limits or reach out to support for basic data.
  • Sample requests updated. XML request and response samples have been reviewed and corrected across all 99 services. Teams referencing these samples as a starting point now have accurate structures to work from.
  • Consistent formatting applied across all 99 pages. Previously, service pages used different layouts and contained varying levels of detail. Every page now follows the same structure, so navigating between services during integration work is faster and more predictable.

Why Documentation Quality Affects Integration Work

Integration work rewards precision. Knowing the exact data type and character limit for a field means your team writes to the right specification from the start. Accurate sample requests provide a reliable starting structure. Consistent page formatting means the information you need is always in the same place, regardless of which service you’re working with.

Each of the three changes compounds the others. Field size data answers the most specific technical question at the element level. Updated samples give teams an accurate structural reference to build from. Consistent formatting means navigating across 99 services feels like working within a single, coherent resource.

One Thing to Know Before You Dig In

RentalMan configurations vary by customer. Some field sizes and mandatory fields differ depending on your specific setup, which means the documentation reflects standard defaults, not every possible configuration. Each service page includes a note flagging this directly.

If your integration requires field specifications beyond what the documentation covers, your Customer Success Manager can provide configuration-specific details for your environment. If you’re not sure who your CSM is, give us a shout here.
